Match report A gallant failure in a match in which both teams had their opportunities while credit must be given to our opponents for their chase everything down attitude in the field. I estimate that they saved double their winning margin with this approach.
In such a close match crucial moments abounded but Colin Mills unfortunate injury when struck in the ribs by a return from the field was highly influential. However two more took place in close proximity to the north-west corner of the square where in the West Lothian innings a "bump ball" was claimed to allow their top scorer a "life" and where in our innings Suresh was well caught by a fielder leaping high to his left to make an unlikely catch.
Suresh's innings of 29 followed a steady bowling spell, Millsy was as accurate as ever until his enforced departure and a typical spell by Gerry earned him four wickets.
The chase was built on stands of 29 for the first wicket (Sohail and Praveen), 44 for the third (Fyfey and Suresh) and 38 for sixth (Zoheb and captain Jim). Before the unfortunate conclusion, the downside had been the three wickets lost between 86 and 96 with Suresh being the man in the middle. Despite the outcome the seconds played some admirable cricket which if regularly repeated should result in a more wins than losses.
