Preston Village 2nds v Edinburgh South Cricket Club 2nd XI on Sat 02 Jun 2007 at 1.30 p.m.
Edinburgh South Cricket Club Won 1 Run
The first win for the second eleven under the new banner. Asanka and Dave provided the batting fireworks and Thomas provided the vital support to Asanka in a stand of 40 for the fourth wicket. With two "crocks" in the field, Bill(torn thigh muscle) and Dave Boyle (damaged finger taking a throww before the opposition innings started), the Villagers looked to have the run chase well in hand but we took the chances which were offered to secure a tense victory. Jim Brims claimed the vital wicket of the home opener thanks to a catch by James France, Asanka held a skier off Jim in the deep while Fyfey juggled a catch at cover before James France polished off the innings in a tight second spell just before he ran out of overs.
