Match report Stand in captain for the absent new skipper, Karamjit, wearing a borrowed jersey,won the toss and gave Dunnikier first use of a bright green artificial wicket.
Prabhneet claimed the first wicket of the season with the home score on 27 after a successful appeal for l.b.w - the first of three given by the home side. Ryan took the first two of his five wicket haul in his first spell thanks to catching a skier off his own bowling, narrowly avoiding a collision with Aaron in the process. and a catch at deep extra cover by John Amis. The home fourth wicket pair took a toll of some rusty early season change bowling to add 74 before Navneet took off his keeping gloves to break the partnership and open one end.
Ryan returned to capture his third wicket when replacement 'keeper,Ross H,took a good low catch. This was followed by a second catch by John A, taken with the same assurance as his first,and an l.b.w. both in his final over. Karamjit and Prabhneet bowled briefly in tandem it the closing overs and grabbed the remaining wickets - two for Dad and one to the lad.
A run out at the end of our third over was not the start that we needed and thereafter we found it difficult to penetrate the field against bowlers who imparted little pace to the ball. Our score advanced into batting bonus point territory through a stand between of 45 for the 8th wicket by Ross H and Navneet with the former both defending resolutely and scoring runs off bad balls. A late flourish by Jake Amis secured a third batting bonus point with a four off the final ball of the match.
