Match report Stand in captain Bill fared no better than the usual incumbent in "the ceremony of the toss". However the Morton 3rds skipper,David Belton, decided to bat thus giving the 4s forty overs in the field. Five of the nine bowlers used took a wicket each and the fielders were on a learning curve particularly during a 4th wicket partnership of 98 between the left handed former Mitre player Michael Bracewell and his right handed partner named Kumar in the scorebooks. Dom produced a well pitched seaming delivery to remove the former, Jabar took two super catches at cover, one from a fierce drive the other low down, Mo bowled with bounce and turn, Andy Barrie repeated his feat in the "bounce game" with SMRH 4 of giving up the 'keeping gloves and having his replacement claim a catch. His replacement was Peter Fyfe who had harnessed the breeze well in bowling a tight opening spell. Fyfey went on to star as opening bat and top scorer with 31 out of our total of 78. Peter was last out and his partnership of 14 for the 9th wicket with Dom, who again showed the value of playing straight, was vital in earning a batting point to go with the three gained for bowling.
