Match report Through no fault of our own, we had to play this game with 10, which was a bit. We lost the toss, and Mr Higgins of SMRH chose to bat.

Ian Irving and Raj opened the bowling with Ian taking the first two wickets in his third over with some great swing bowling. Adam and Shine came on to bowl after four overs each from the openers and shine took the wicket of the opener Rigby caught by Andy for 1. Ali was batting well at the other end keeping the score moving along until skying one to Ian Ross at mid off then Holmes followed in the next over bowled by Adam, keeping up his record of a wicket in every game this season. SMRH number 6 Raja was swinging hard at anything wide hitting a couple of sixes and a few fours forming a good partnership with Mr Higgins. Ian and Raj came back on to bowl and Ian made the break though with Higgins slicing one to Raj at deep gully(?!). Raj then took 3 quick wickets with his bowling being a bit too quick and accurate for the SMRH tail, leaving Ryan to get a deserved wicket, trapping the number 11 batsman lbw. A Raja finished on a very good 53* and SMRH finished on 126, a competitive score.

Jim and Brad opened the batting and got off to a good start, then Jim fell for 9 in the 8th over with the score on 16. Form batsman Ian Ross, who had been reluctantly promoted to number 3, came in next and he and Brad progressed the score but with the rain coming down hard, Brad was out caught behind. We then went off for a break under the trees for about 15 minutes while the rain eased off. The rain break obviously messed with the captain's meticulous preparation and he was out 2nd ball after the resumption. Oops. Then followed a good partnership between Ian Ross and Andy Barker which took the score to 73, including a first ever six for Ian. Andy was then out caught in the deep and an injured Shine was bowled 2nd ball to bring SMRH right back into the game. Ryan scored a quick 17 cutting the ball nicely then was out caught behind Raj to the crease. Ian and Raj batted very well and sensibly and took the scores to level at 126. Raj then went for glory and was also out caught behind. SMRH only needed two wickets for the tie but on the 6th ball of the following over Ian (48*) turned a full toss to backward square leg for a single and the win. Phew.

Another good bowling and fielding performance with everyone helping out especially as we only had 10 and excellent batting (again!) from Ian Ross with good support from Jim, Brad, Andy, Ryan and Raj.

A third win in a row for us which takes us above our opponents in the league and another fun game in division 8. Thanks to David Higgins and all the SMRH lads for their willingness to play in the damp conditions and the general friendly atmosphere of the game.
