Match report A fun, light-hearted match, played to Woodcutter's rules, was won by Murrayfield-DAFS on a sun-drenched Roseburn Park.

South's batting highlight was a promising 24 from debutant opener Shekar. Farrukh and Murali played useful supporting knocks.

The away team also bowled and fielded well in defence of a low total. Paul Reddish's left arm fast bowling had purists purring with appreciation, as he used his height to extract steepling bounce, repeatedly troubling the terrified batsmen. Reddish's ability to move the ball both ways at extreme pace invited obvious comparisons with Wasim Akram. However, more experienced passing observers noted - especially in Reddish's relentless accuracy - a parallel with Alan Davidson's famous efforts in Kanpur (http://tinyurl.com/kanpurtest), another great left-arm bowling performance in a losing cause.

Much of the the support bowling was tidy, with wickets for Farrukh, Murali, Pete, Paul, and two for Calum. Excellent catches at short-cover and midwicket by Johnathan and Shekar, meant the home side were obliged to work for their result.
