Match report Travelling to one of the strongest teams in the league was always going to be a struggle, but only having 7 players made the task even more difficult. The first battle was won at the toss, with the decision taken to bat first, but unfortunately that was the only thing that went our way on the day. A solid opening stand, under the instruction to bat time, was underway, until the skipper lost patience and went after a half tracker, only to slice the ball up in the air. A collapse then occurred as we lost the remaining 5 wickets for only 4 runs, although every one of those wickets was due to good bowling (great in Jeremy's case as the ball seamed back in off 5th stump to clip the bail between middle and leg).

With only 21 on the board, we agreed to turn things around straight away, and the first two overs were fairly sedate, with a half chance coming when Adam drew an edge from Liddle which was wide enough to beat the keeper, and low enough to not carry to 2nd slip. Liddle then decided enough was enough, and clubbed 3 boundaries to end proceedings, and send us back to the club house for an undeserved tea.

It was a difficult day, but everyone who was there gave their all, and played the game with great spirit.
