Match report South advanced to the next round of the Terry Newcombe Trophy with a comfortable win over Leith FAB at Leith Links. The home side won the toss and and chose to bowl on their artificial pitch, The outfield was long and damp and it was immediately clear that boundaries were likely to be in short supply. However thanks to alert running four batsmen made double figure scores and a generous contribution from extras, mainly wides, our final total was made at a rate only just under 6 an over. We hit only five boundaries.
In defence of 117 we made the perfect start when Farhan dismissed the home opener l.b.w.with the first ball of the innings. Farhan continued his fine spell by bowling 3 more batsmen in taking 4 for 15 in his four over spell. Another left armer replaced Farhan at the Eastern end and Russell kept Leith pinned down in an accurate four over stint which earned him 2 wickets for the cost of 6 runs. Daniel, who wqas captaining the side alos took 2 wickets and their was one each for Kiran and Kaylin K. In the field Dipen held two good catches and Daniel one.
