Who are we
Welcome to Edinburgh South, a community cricket club based in Scotland's capital who believes that the game and its spirit is for everyone. You'll find at Inch Park, next to the Cameron Toll shopping centre, and where we have two cricket grounds and a range of training facilities.
Our club boasts a strong presence in the East of Scotland Cricket Association (ESCA) leagues with five XIs competing at a range of levels from the highest division of domestic cricket in Scotland to development levels.
At Edinburgh South, we're committed to promoting cricket for all. Our Women and Girls cricket program and our Junior Section are open to both boys and girls, starting their journey in All Stars from the age of six.
2023 was another standout season for the club. Our 1st XI achieved an impressive victory, clinching the ESCA Championship title at the first time of asking. Although we were narrowly edged out by Arbroath in the end-of-season playoff for promotion to the Eastern Premier League, we're set for an exciting journey ahead. Our 2nd XI secured their third consecutive league title and will compete in Division 4 in 2024, with the 3rd XI in Division 6 and the 4th XI in Division 8. The interest over the season led to our application for a 5th XI in the ESCA league being approved.
Our the friendly and Sunday XI known as Edinburgh South Mitres, is all about fun and social cricket. It's the ideal place for novices, budding talents, and experienced players alike. Many of our senior players began their cricketing journey right here.
Throughout the week, we're actively involved in various T20 cup competitions, including the prestigious Edinburgh Parks Trophy, one of the oldest knockout tournaments in the cricket world. The Terry Newcombe Trophy, Masterton Trophy, Braw Skelp round-robin tournament, and the Cricket Scotland Cup also provide exciting opportunities for our teams.
For our Women and Girls, there are cricketing opportunities year-round. We participate in the Wee Bash Women's indoor tournaments during the winter months and compete in the East Challenger League during the summer season. Additionally, we organise fun, social friendly games and outdoor Wee Bash tournaments for women and girls.
But our commitment extends beyond the boundary ropes. As founder members of the Inch Park Community Sports Club (IPCSC), we are actively contributing to one of Scotland's most exciting sporting projects. This initiative is dedicated to building exceptional sports and community facilities, including our modern and cricket square. Our youth activities have expanded rapidly, with coaching in seven primary schools and one secondary school in the local area, alongside our own thriving youth section.
Importantly, we stand firm against discrimination in all forms, both on and off the pitch. Honesty, integrity, and the true spirit of cricket are embedded in our DNA, and we're proud to be one of the leading in the Fair Play rankings across the ESCA Divisions.
If you share our passion for cricket, camaraderie, and inclusivity, we invite you to join us. Get in touch and be a part of our exciting cricketing journey!
We welcome players from other clubs, those who are new in Edinburgh or those taking up the game for the first time.
