At Edinburgh South Cricket Club, we believe cricket is for everyone.
United by Cricket is our commitment to making the game welcoming, inclusive and a place where everyone feels a sense of belonging. This principle is embedded in our club constitution and shapes the way we operate both on and off the field.
We support everyone to express their identity at the club by practicing cultural competence in everything we do. We recognise that financial pressures and lived experience of frequently excluded groups are not considered in many settings. This can create exclusion and inequalities in our sport. We are working hard to create an environment free from the structural and cultural issues that lead to exclusion, so our club can be a sense of pride and belonging for all that choose to play here.
We display this commitment boldly on our playing kit, our social media and on live streams to let everyone know they are welcome at South.
Our commitment in action
We are proud to support national and local campaigns that reflect our values and help build a better future for the game.
Running Out Racism

Edinburgh South played a central role in the foundation of the Running Out Racism campaign, which works to challenge racial inequality in Scottish cricket and promote meaningful allyship. We are committed to listening, learning and acting to make sure everyone feels safe, valued and respected.
As one of the most ethnically diverse clubs in Edinburgh, we are proud of the many backgrounds and cultures that are represented in our teams. But we also know there is always more to do.

Her Game Too

We’re proud to have a vibrant and growing women’s section at Edinburgh South, with a strong track record that includes multiple Cricket Scotland Women’s Premier League titles.
Cricket should be a game for everyone. That’s why we proudly support the Her Game Too campaign, which champions gender inclusion across sport. We’re committed to making sure all women and girls – and everyone who identifies as female – feel welcome, supported and celebrated as part of our club.

Rainbow Laces

Each year we take part in the Rainbow Laces campaign to show our support for LGBTQ+ inclusion in sport.
Wearing rainbow laces is a small act, but it sends a clear message. Everyone deserves to feel comfortable and accepted in our club, no matter their sexuality or gender identity.

Keeping cricket affordable
The cost of playing sport can be a real barrier. We never want money to be the reason someone feels excluded.
That’s why we offer flexible payments, subsidised memberships and support with kit or travel where needed. If you love the game, we will always try to find a way to get you involved.
Always learning
This list is not exhaustive. We know that inclusion is not a box to tick but a journey to keep working at. We are always learning and developing, and we are open to feedback.
We know we don’t have all the answers, but we will keep striving to do better.
Be part of it
United by Cricket is not a one-off campaign. It is part of how we live our values as a volunteer-run, community cricket club.
If you have ideas, questions or want to get involved, we’d love to hear from you.
