Edinburgh South Cricket Club News story

Stuart McGann

21 Jun 2012

News has reached us that Stuart McGann, the captain of the Stirling County Cricket Club 4th XI, passed away this morning.  Stuart was just 45.

Stuart will perhaps be best known to players from our 3rd XI, who shared two exciting and very enjoyable fixtures with his team last year.  As well as being a considerable cricketer - he was the leading run-scorer in the division - he was a throughly decent guy on and off the field.

I shan't say too much more about a man I only met twice.  But he was someone who made cricket a fun and friendly sport to play, and will be deeply missed by Scottish Cricket in general, as well as his club and - of course - his family and friends.  I'm sure everyone at Edinburgh South will join with me in extending our condolences to the bereaved.
