Edinburgh South Cricket Club Lost On run rate comparison

Match report A galling loss in a rain shortened match, particulary as, having got ahead of the rate at the end of the 32nd over, the early finish was only the second time on which we had fallen behind since that juncture.
We had shown character to give ourselves a winning opportunity as a second wicket stand of 81 by the visitors had put them on 97/2 after 24.3 overs and on a hot afternoon a 200 plus total loked likely. A tight spell by Suresh had already started to apply a brake and the new "spin twins", Gerry and Eric both tied up the middle and lower order and took wickets, which included three very good outfield catches among their combined haul of six wickets.
Accurate bowling by Livingston's top three bowlers had made the early going hard but a stand of 44 by Asanka and Kamran for the 5th wicket drew us closer to our target and when the rain came we were more often ahead of the rate than behind except at the conclusion after 39.1 overs. However a part over counts as a full over and nine bonus points were all we took from the match.
