Match report Having ended WLCCA 3s long winning run last week, ESCC 2s knew the importance of this top of the table return match at Boghall. ESCC 2s were asked to bat first on a perfect day for cricket. After losing an early wicket, Will and Sohail initially built a very careful platform. However their confidence grew, and Will went on to complete a masterful century - 130 not out, including 20 fours. Sohail may have scored "only" 44 in their second wicket partnership of 165, but his support was key to the success of the stand. Young Chris Miller took 2 for 22. Praveen's quick 35 not out in the last few overs helped create what proved to be the winning margin.

Our big score, plus Gus's typical miserly economy, soon built pressure on WLCCA 3s reply. Their need to accelerate the score proved key, and soon they were 54 for 4. A valiant 94 by Napoli, out of 125 while he was at the wicket, lacked sufficient support. ESCC 2s bowling was more accurate than sometimes, evidenced by only 7 extras conceded. Gerry scooped four wickets as more and more risky shots were attempted, but two each for Razzaq and Murali topped and tailed this well worked win.
