Match report ESCC2s’ positive plans were soon dashed when half the side was bundled out for little more than 20, notwithstanding a few bold shots by Yogesh. Daryll and Abhinav then provided the main assault - fine while it lasted, but all too brief. Quite how Peter and Gus found themselves at the bottom of the batting order is obscure, but even their late flurry only took us to a mediocre 66 all out. Lois Wilkinson, one of three young ladies in the Stirling team, took 4 for 9, and gets this writer’s “woman of the match” award.

With several grey clouds about, we turned around straight away. Asanka sensibly decided to keep changing the attack, as it was obvious that taking regular wickets was our only hope. Stirling County 3s made a steady start, only broken by Daryll’s stunning full length diving caught and bowled, undoubtedly the champagne moment, as it took several of us to help him to regain an upright stance! But that started a succession of wickets, as seven bowlers tried their luck. Tension increased, but Stirling did enough to win what turned out to be an absorbing match by two wickets.
