Watsonians 4ths v Edinburgh South Cricket Club 4th XI on Sat 01 Jun 2013 at 1400
Edinburgh South Cricket Club Lost Result Changed by ESCA Comps. Committee to Win for EScc 4

Match report Captain Peter Geoghegan's sequence of lost tosses wsa broken, but, although he had the option to bat or bowl first, was it really a toss?
Blogger "Fantasy Bob" in his chronicles of the Carlton Fourth Eleven has made a close study of the toss and has written extensively about it but even he may not have experienced what happened at Craiglockhart. Neither captain had a coin, nor were they able to borrow one, so Peter was asked to guess in which hand our own Eoghan was holding a small stone. He guesed correctly and opted to bat on a warm sunny afternoon but can he truely be said to have "won the toss"?
On a firm pitch and with a quick outfield Ross W and Peter F put on 18 in 4 overs for the first wicket as a prelude to a second wicket partnership of 108 in 19 overs, between Fyfey, who reached 50 during it, and Kishore - in most of our matches 108 would be considered a decent team total. Following these riches the obligatory collapse took place so that 126/2 in 23 overs became 146/6 from 28.2. However a swashbuckling innings of 26 by Vishal (5 x 4s) in a stand of 41 for the seventh wicket with Eoghan who hit the only 6 of our innings and a goodly helping of extras helped us to the undreamed of heights of 195 for 8 at the end of 40 overs.
Watsonians, and in particular Geoff Mawdesley, batted very well in chasing down the target in 27.4 overs but the early departure of two bowlers who were able to bowl only 5 of their expected 16 overs handicapped us. Watsonians did give us fielding subs. but there was litle margin for error for the bowlers on such a good wicket while the home batsmen found gaps through which to hit boundaries plus our concession of extras was only 2 short of the number donated by 'Sonians.
There had been a hint pre-match that the league might frown on this being regarded as a valid result by the Legaue's Competitions committee and so it turned out as Watsonians 3rds had scratched their away fixture.
