Match report As our 3rds and all three Tranent sides had been victims of cancellations this friendly was arranged at less than 24 hours notice. It turned out to be a close and enjoyable game of cricket which resulted in a win for the thirds with one ball and two wickets remaining.
Scott Russell scored 63 for Tranent who had been put in to bat while Jim McLaren claimed four wickets late in the visitor's innings after passing the gloves to Dom who tok 2 catches off Jim to add to the one taken earlier in the field.
Jim then batted through our innings for 68* and was helped in adding 60 in the last 9.5 overs by brisk innings of 23 and 18* by Dave Picken ( a Tranent dad whose son Ollie took 2 for 18) and Ian Irving. The five runs required from the last over caused anxiety to one of our more senior members as Jim,whose knock had previously been chanceless, offered a couple of chances in scoring the first three of these runs. In contrast one of the side's younger members was gleeful as these events unfolded,
