Match report There was, to your correspondent and others, a mystifying preamble to this match as a number of the Watsonian team thought the match was being played at Craiglockhart. Indeed,the players had made their way round there and a toss took place (Graham called correctly) but before we could take the field a groundsman redirected one and all back to Myreside. As this was a different location another toss took place. Watsonians won it and asked the Thirds to bat.

The wicket looked good, the sun was out although there was a distinct breeze and our openers appeared fairly comfortable without being able to find the gaps in the field so our collapse seemed like a throw back to "days of old." Apart from an unfortunate run out it can be said in mitigation that several of our batsmen got out to very good balls.

'Sonians eased their way past our total but our bowlers claimed two worthy wickets.The first with score on 6 when Ian Irving swung the ball through their left handed opener's attempted forward stroke while Gerry claimed the second when he beat the batsman through the air and had his appeal for leg before answered positively.
