Match report
Apart from references in old maps and publications which mention Lower Scroggie and Scroggie Farm nobody seems to know the origin of the name Scroggie Park for Falkland's ground. The name may not promise much but the ground, set in a private estate, has a wonderful scenic aspect. Edinburgh South played cricket which matched the location with Karl and Luke providing the stand out performances. To quote David Kelso and Willie Dick of Scottish Cricket Media, Karl "stroked" an impressive 99 and Luke gave the Falkland middle order an attack of "the jitters" on his way to a five wicket haul.
Partnerships, or rather the lack of them, were a feature of last season's match reports but in this game Karl was involved in three in adding 55 with Paul (29) for the second wicket and 62 for both the third and fourth wickets with Rajeev (31) and Mike(17*)respectively. Karl's fine innings ended when he was l.b.w. for 99 from 91 balls having hit 7 fours and 3 sixes. Mike, having faced 20 balls in his stand with Karl, continued positively with six scoring shots from six balls faced in the closing overs of the innings.
After a superb Falkland tea Farhan bowled the left handed home No. 2, Graeme Watson in the opening over. Adam Ferguson and Alan Hamilton added a steady 56 for the second wicket but just before the drinks break Luke grabbed a low caught and bowled chance to break the partnership. Luke then went on to claim four of the next five wickets to fall at which point Falkland 2nds were 73 for 7. When Luke took his first wicket Wiqas was already half way through a tight eight over spell and a sharp catch by Karl gave him the other wicket in this decisive period lasting six overs. The home tail wagged and it fell to Omkar and Karl to wrap up the innings thanks to Manu, taking his second catch of the day, off Omkar at mid on and Luke combining with Karl by taking a catch at short cover.
