Match report Winning the toss and being two players light to begin with Edinburgh South elected to bat having one the toss. This proved to be quite a good move as the skipper and Karamjit put on 79 for the opening partnership. Barratt junior then assisted ably in a 40 run stand for the second wicket. Steady runs continued throughout the innings as did the loss of wickets with South finishing on a top score for the season of 181-8.

The SMRH innings got off to a disastrous start with the skipper running out the opening batsman on the second ball and almost claiming the other opener in the same way the very next ball. The great start to the defence of the total continued the next over, young Peter Gill's first for ESCC (guest debuting from Carlton 5s), with the debutant clean bowling the remaining opener. After another two tight overs Prabhneet got into the act, spurring Pete on to claim another two wickets in his third over. Prabhneet then claimed his second victim and the opposition were reduced to 26 for 6. The next wicket fell to Harry, his first senior wicket, but that remained it for a while with Barratt senior having no luck in his spell. Gerry bowled a couple of miserly overs either side of drinks and then the skipper tossed young Master Gill the ball, having just found out that his best bowling figures were an impressive 5-4. Five balls later his new best figures were 6-11!
