Edinburgh South Cricket Club Lost by 36 runs

Match report At the start the toss was again lost but this time we were required to field. Charlie had visiting opener Ben Thurman, who has made some good runs against us in the past, caught by a Carlton sub fielder at short cover off the final ball of the first over of the match and he bowled eight overs straight off for a return of 3 for 27. The gift of a run out to go with Charlie's haul meant that Carlton were 38 for for 4 after 13 overs but they recovered to reach 147 all out from 38 overs thanks largely to a stand of 55 for 6th wicket by Mikey Brown and Zaki Yusaf, two former age group representatives of Eastern Knights. Brown went on to score 50 not out.

Charanjit, who had taken two tumbling catches in the field, fell to the eighth ball of our innings, the victim of the first of two very fine diving catches at square leg by Dougal Main - Farhan was the other bat to fall in this fashion. That made us 12 for 1 after 1.2 overs and the tally had not advance when we lost our 4th wicket after 5.3 overs. Eoghan, batting at 4, made a sturdy effort to repair the damage but after he fell at 69 for 8 after 28.3 it took spirited batting by Dib and Daniel to take us towards our final total with a partnership of 42 for the 9th wicket.
