Match report This match on a warm sunny afternoon at Meggetland illustrated very well how the feeling in the opposing sides side can climb high and just as quickly be lowered.
Having been put in to bat we made good early progress and with 41 on the board without loss we were contemplating a score north of 240. However, we were re-considering this prospect when we lost three wickets in one over and 41 for 0 became 44 for 3 and Boroughmuir spirits were rising. Four soft dismissals followed and it looked entirely possible that an all out score in the region of 110/120 in well under the scheduled 40 overs could be our total. Vipin stood firm but did not neglect to put away the bad ball as his four boundaries and one six show and he found a determined partner in Russell, who started by defending stoutly but expanded his range of shots as the partnership developed and home hopes were waning. Charlie and Farhan also added very useful runs down the order.
Charlie took the first three 'Muir wickets to fall, one a catch by Harry and early in his good set Kiran bowled Sarvar, who had caused our early alarms when he bowled . Home captain S. Ahmed tried to rally his side but when Vipin came on he removed their skipper and quickly disposed of the tail.
Not for the first time this season we had battled our way to a win in a match which could have gone against us but in future games we can help our cause if we keep the number of wides which we bowl to a single digit number. In this game our wides added 31 to the Boroughmuir score.
