Match report South's trip down to Galasheils didn't get off to the best start with opening batsman, wicket keeper and leagues leading run scorer Paul Reddish going down with sickness on the morning of the game. Luckily South were able to call upon the services of Mohan Ilangovan who ably made the step up from the 3's to keep wicket in the 2's, conceding 1 bye and taking 2 catches behind the stumps. Very impressive stuff and really shows the depth in South this year.

Winning the toss South chose to bowl. No one was shocked except Gala who celebrated being asked to bat first which looked very premature when Prab and Kalyan M took out both openers with the score on 20. This brought R Paterson to the crease who turned out to be Gala best batsman. With wickets falling at the other end to the economical Sharan and Russell it took a moment of magic from a sharp leg spinner from Dib to dismiss Paterson for 29. Except for a couple of blows from J Bell that signalled the last of the Gala resistance with Kalyan M and Aaron cleaning up the tail to bowl Gala out for 96. Our most expensive bowler went at 3.17 an over which is a great performance with a wet ball against a good batting side.

With clouds gathering and rain forecast South's batsman were told to not be daft but to get on with it! 6 Maidens and 3 wickets in the first 10 overs put paid to that philosophy leaving South 3-11 in 10 overs having accounted for Mohan, Phil and Sharan. Luckily the solid Karamjit was still there and Ian came to the crease on his birthday to start a rescue effort. Gala went for broke sniffing a win and with the rain around bowled out both their opening bowlers in the quest for more wickets. Ian and Karamjit (who didn't score off his first 22 balls!) were solid in defence and opened up against the first change and back up bowlers for Gala who didn't have the control of the opening pair. Both Ian and Karamjit posted very impressive 39 not outs and lead the team to victory. Shout out to Kalyan K who made the trip to Gala and hurt his knee in the first over so couldn't bowl! Was great in the field!

The win against third puts us a win away from promotion with 2 games to play, keep going South!!
