Edinburgh South Cricket Club 1st XI v Drummond Trinity CC on Thu 01 Jul 2021 at 6:15pm
Edinburgh South Cricket Club Lost by 59 runs

Match report Drummond Trinity won the toss and batted first on a bright evening in this Parks Trophy Semi-Final at Inch Park Players on both sides were swiftly ready for action and so the tie strted two minutes early. Wickets for Farhan with the last ball of his first over and the first ball of his second got us off to a good start but the score had moved on to 38 when Eoghan trapped D. Jain l.b.w to take our third wicket. At the end of the next over he took a catch at deep mid off from Kiran's bowling with only one run added to the visitors total. Eoghan then bowled batsmen in each of his next two overs which put the visitors on 55 for 6 from 12 overs. However, opener Ram Boyapati, DT's winter recruit from Boroughmuir, was still there with 24 to his name and a positive approach by him and two following partners advanced their score. Forty five runs were added for the seventh wicket which fell to Vipin two balls after Boyapati had brought up his own 50 and the DT 100. Thoughts of dismissing our opponents for around 110 were disappearing and their number nine threw the bat in the closing 2.3 overs while Boyapati increased his score in this period with 4 singles and two 2s to finish 58 not out. At the end of their 20 overs Drummond Trinity had scored 131 for 7.
As the visiting innings was ending the bright evening was replaced by a cloudy sky. We lost a cluster of early wickets, including George to a"jaffa", and when Dean fell to an ankle high caught and bowled we were 25 for 4 at the end of the sixth over. Nab, who was in the nmber 3 position, had been batting soundly during th this period and found good support from Harry in a 32 for the 5th wicket. After Harry had been caught by the wicketkeeper Eoghan suffered the misfortune of being run out without facing when the bowler deflected a drive on to the stumps. Kiran was out in the same over while Vipin, adopting the positive approach which had revived DT, was caught at mid wicket ten balls later. Nab, who had batted comfortably in making 31 from 32 balls, was ninth out, caught behind, to the next ball, while Farhan was last out.
Although the bare scores suggest that we were a fairly distant second we had had our Division One opponents in trouble three-fifths of the way through their innings and they were favoured by some good fortune while they were bowling.
