Match report Batting first at Raeburn Place South were in early trouble at 11 for 2 from 6.4 overs wiith both openers dismissed by Grange's opening seamer Jolyon Mitchell. Praful came in at number 4 to join Nab and hit the second delivery which he faced for 4 and our score increased by a further 1 as it was a no ball. This shot launched a handsome partnership of 122 for the 3rd wicket in exactly 21 overs. Naveen and Vipin also batted productively in a stand of 54 for the 5th wicket in a ball less than 8 overs. The batting in both these partnerships earned warm praise from the home umpire John Blain, now Director of Cricket at Grange c.C. and formerly of Northants, Yorkshire and Scotland.
With the ball Rudolf claimed the first thanks to a catch behind the stumps by Nab. Our 'keeper also removed the bails from a throw by Naveen to send back the home number 3 and Siva held a good catch at cover off Mir to make the Stags 48 for 3 at the end of the 16th over. The Grange opener Aris Davenport (42 with 4 fours) had been batting positively until he was well caught by Kalyan M at mid on off Kiran's bowling. With four wickets Kiran was our most successful bowler on the day and bowled in tandem with Naveen (2 for 27) in the middle of the innings. This pair ended any hopes Grange may have had of passing our total.
Some problems were experienced with the new CS Live scoring system, the fact that both sides had 12 players contributed to that, so for completeness it should be noted that Kalyan M had bowling figures of 3-0-15-0.
