Match report Vipin won the toss and elected to bat at Myreside. Our skipper also chose to open the batting but was dismissed by the third ball of the match so Nab joined Naveen in the middle. They put on a partnership of 81 for the second wicket at which point by a combination of a catch at cover by our former player Jake Amis off the bowling of Caylin Pickett who, out of Boroughmuir, had been a regular in the junior ranks of SouthMuir Sharks. Nab had passed 50 by the time Charanjit was third out, a victim of the same fielder/bowler combination. Charanjit had contributed 21 to the third wicket partnership of 54. Nab's next significant partnership was with Praful for the fifth wicket. They made 48 together of which Praful made 18 and by that stage Nab had advanced to 93. He duly completed a well deserved century before being seventh out, for 104 (14 fours) with the score on 209 from 39.3 overs. Our innings closed after 44.4 after Manik had made the bulk of our late with some powerful shots.
In the field Farhan opened the bowling from the pavilion end and bowled 9 overs right through. He removed both home openers, bowling Jake Amis with the first ball of his second over and havving the 'Sonian skipper Rory High caught low down by Naveen who was keeping wicket. High had been playing a real captain's innings before Farhan found the edge of his bat with a ball which moved away late. Naveen's catch was his third, and best, of the four he took behind the stumps. The score was 54 for 4 from 12.4 overs when High returned to the pavilion. Rudi had given Naveen his first catch (35/2 in 7.4) and when Manik came on he induced a snick to our 'keeper with his third ball (50/3 from 11.3). Manik claimed his second wicket by bowling Teall, Praful then had McLean caught in the deep by Naga, Kiran ended some resistance by Evans when Naveen took his fourth catch and when Siva bowled the left handed Ridge that meant that our ten player opponents were 87 for 8 from 29.2 overs. At this point Vipin came into the attack. Fittingly our captain claimed the final wicket with his fourth ball to seal the Division 1 winners spot for South.
