Edinburgh South Cricket Club Won by 107 runs
Match report
Nab won the toss and elected to bat in this home match played at Shedden Park, Kelso with the main square at Inch Park still recovering from flooding; a decision which the match umpire reckoned was just what he would have done.
Abhinav stroked a boundary in each of the first three overs before edging a catch to slip which which brought in Asad at 3 which was higher than his usual slot in the middle or lower middle order. This proved an effective change to the batting order as he joined Kam in a stand of 119 for the second wicket in 145 balls. Good running between the wickets was feature of the partnership. Nab came in at No. 4 but Kam fell, caught at the wicket, for a well played 72 with the score on 148. Our skipper became the main run scorer with a series of partners until bowled for 46 by Bukhari, who had bowled ther second over of the innings, after 45.5 overs with our score on 224 for 8. Manik and Safi, who hit a big 6, batted enterprisingly to add runs before our innings came to an end.
Manik was soon back in action with the ball and got us off to a flying start by removing 3 of Livingston's top four all of whom were bowled. This made them 25 for 3 from 7.1 overs. However, Livi's No 3, the left handed Adeel Ahmed, and No. 5, Ahmed Ali, added 67 for the fourth wicket. The stage of wondering where the next wicket would be coming from was creeping up on South but matters changed rapidly after the ball was given to Abhi for the 25th over. The 4th ball of that over produced a run out with Abhi himself gaining the credit after a huge misunderstanding between the batters. On the 5th ball of his next over the left hander snicked the ball into Nab's gloves to make our opponents 96 for 5. The lower half of their order added only 40 more with Abhi involved in each of the dismissals. He combined with Praf for a second run out, Praf held a "ripper" of a catch at short mid wicket to secure Abhi's third victim and he finished off the innings with an lbw and then bowling Nos. 10 and 11, although he did change ends to gain his 5th and last wicket.
