This was another close contest which could have gone either way and both sides had spells in which they appeared to have the upper hand.
Bowling first South took an early advantage when both Manik and Safi took a wicket inside the first 10 overs to make Gala 27 for 2 from 9.4 overs. At this point the crucial partnership of the match between opener Ponneri q and No. 4 Chathuranga started. They added 96 to their side's total before the latter was superbly caught and bowled by Abhi after 32.1 overs. Two balls later Kiran took a catch at mid on to give Abhi his second wicket and from there South took frequent wickets although the visiting 9, 10 and jack resisted stubbornly.
Brisk early scoring in the chase by Charanjit, back in his opener's role, and Kam was acclaimed by the home bench and support and although both openers were back in the shed after 7.4 overs South had 58 on the board. Asad, batting at 3, was also in good form and when he fell after 20.2 overs South were 105 for 4. This saw the match turn the way of the visitors as they gained a 5th wicket with the next ball and twice more in the overs which followed South, at 127 and 151, lost 2 wickets with the total remaining the same. Abhi, had been batting well and trying to steer us home, was an lbw victim when he was 9th out and the second player to go at 151 and although the target was in sight it was not reached.
