Match report In common with several matches so far this season, at various levels in the club, this fixture started in pleasant conditions but persistent drizzle set end before the finish. Others had ended in a combination of any two from cold, wind, rain or mist.
Acting captain, Yallene, lost the toss and Watsonians opted to bat. It is unknown if knowledge of the coming change in the weather played any part in the home captain's decision.
Our first three wickets all came by way of run outs as our fielders pounced on misjudgements in running by the home batters over eager to keep their total mounting. By the time South claimed their third wicket 'Sonians were 105 for 3 from 12.5 0vers and there had been one home retiral. However, Greta changed this on returning for a second spell in which she earned an l.b.w. decision and took a caught and bowled while Yallene put a break on the scoring rate with 3 tight overs.
South's reply to the home total of 140/ 5 was a very respectable 112/6 which was based on a fine partnership of 73 between Isla K and Freya for the third wicket and middle order runs from Greta.
