Match report Edinburgh South batted first in the early evening sunshine at Raeburn Place. Sian and Isla K both batted fluently on a very good pitch and together put on 53 for our third wicket at which point the former was caught at mid wicket..
The Grange innings started as mist began to come down. Marcelina claimed a wicket in her second over to give South some encouragement but with 10 overs bowled the home side had reached 64 for 2 and their opening bat had reached a score at which she had to retire. Aakriti had claimed our second in the 9th over and Catherine was brought back to bowl the 11th over in which she dismissed the Grange number 4 hit wicket. Wood, the home number 5, was now carrying the main burden of scoring runs for our opponents but in the 14th over, the last of Catherine's ration of 4, two of Wood's partners were bowled. This brought Murray, the retired opener, back to the crease and she maintained her earlier form to give Grange the win but as they only had 7 batters it was a "close run thing", as the Duke of Wellington is alleged to have said after Waterloo.
