We secured a five-wicket victory over Bass Rock 2nds at Recreation Park. After winning the toss, we chose to bowl first and restricted the home side to 146-9 from their 40 overs.

The bowlers performed well to keep the scoring rate down. Philip (8-1-26-2) led the attack, whilst Peter (5-1-18-2) and Hugo (7-2-20-2) were equally effective. There were also wickets for Martin R (2-0-17-1) and Martin Ali (8-1-25-1) and they were ably supported by James ( 4-0-15-0 ) and Scott (3-0-11-0) . In the field, Mo took two sharp catches at gully, one of which was a great diving catch, Shaman also took two catches, Dharmesh took one in the slips at the third attempt and a sharp piece of teamwork resulted in a crucial run out.

In reply, we chased down the target efficiently, reaching 150-5 in 31.5 overs. The run chase was anchored by three main contributions. Gordon top-scored with a solid 50, providing the foundation for the innings. He was well supported by Mo, who made 36, and Shaman, who scored a speedy 35 to ensure we stayed on track and completed a comfortable victory, with Scott hitting the winning boundary.

The game was played in a great spirit as both sides provided substitute fielders when the other lost a player due to illness or injury. Shaman took a nasty knock to the face, but came back after running repairs to take a good catch. His biggest concern was he might have to shave his moustache off!!

The win takes us to 6th in the table and one step closer to our aim of staying in the division this season. We have a tough game next up against Drummond Trinity, on Sunday, but have a good chance if we play like we did against Bass Rock.
