Match report Dunbar receives more hours of brilliant sunshine per year than any other place in Scotland. Not that the 5s were lucky enough to catch even a solitary second of sun today. But no matter, they brought the sunshine themselves with a brilliant all round performance.

Stand in captain Phil B won the toss and elected to bowl first on the very clear instruction of absent VC Dharmesh, “It’s the best chance of bonus points” he enthused.

Krish and Hugo took the new ball and produced an outstanding opening spell, between them reducing T&PV6 to 35-5 after 9 overs.

The ball was passed to Sam and Seb, who further reduced T&PV6 to 64-8. With the score on 88-8, James was brought on to see if some spin could bring the final two wickets and he duly delivered a wicket in his first over, 88-9.

This is where the limpet final wicket partnership frustrated the team, special fields were set, special balls were bowled, spin, seam, fast, slow, we tried it all. Finally, Dan ended the partnership after 13 overs with a tricky caught and bowled to leave T&PV6 with a total of 131 all out.

So we came to the batting, with 132 the target we lost Kesh early on for a duck. Phil B and Rajan rebuilt slowly and steadily before Rajan fell for 13. With the score now 30-2 James came to the crease and continued the low risk chase with Phil B. Eventually Phil B fell on 27 and with the score 60-3 Phil G took to the field.

Phil G and James continued the slow and steady pace until the 30th over, where they started to accelerate the run rate, smashing boundaries and running like lightning between the stumps. In their 13 over partnership, they made the chase look comfortable, finishing with 2 overs to spare, James on 54 and Phil G on 20.

Bring me sunshine indeed.
