Match report Carlton won the toss and sent a depleted Edinburgh South & Stewart's Melville side in to bat. Captain Hannah Short went in first together with Molly Paton and the skipper retired the end of the 13th over with 58 to her name and the total 106. Emma Phipps joined Molly and at 141 fell for 15. This ushered in a stand of 41 with Chloe Kiely before Molly was caught attempting a lofted drive at the end 25th over having made an impressive 69. Chloe, who had been playing strongly through the leg side was dismissed for 24 at the end of the penultimate over.
Opener Heather Tait, who scored 101 not out (16 x 4 and 1 x 6) led the Carlton chase for a target of 199 with a positive innings and although the runs required to balls remaining was usually in the home team's favour (e.g. 113 from 90 balls, 76 from 60) with wickets in hand the visitors looked to be favourites particularly as the fielders looked flat. Carlton reached a situation of needing 20 from the last 3 overs with 7 wickets in hand but Hannah exhorted Iona Lowry, Molly and Chloe, the bowlers of these three overs, to keep it tight in this final phase. The fielders gave their support and these overs respectively produced 2 runs ,4 runs and a wicket and 6 runs. Carlton thus finished on 191 for 4.
