Carlton 3s v Edinburgh South Cricket Club 1st XI on Sun 27 Jun 2021 at 1pm
Edinburgh South Cricket Club Won by 9 wickets

Match report Carlton captain Brad Mckay won the toss and elected to bat on a warm and sunny Sunday afternoon at Grange Loan. Farhan opened the bowling at the pavilion end and the second over with the new ball was given to Virender from the Lovers' Loan end. Virender, for this match not wearing his usual shirt with the initials VP, had opener A. Richardson caught behind by Nab, a leg side strangle, with the fourth ball of the over. With his next ball he demolished the stumps of the new batsman with a ball that nipped back on him. Harry was introduced to the attack for the 8th over and with his third ball he had fellow Herioter, Cameron Keatinge caught by Nab. The fourth Carlton wicket fell to the second ball of the 9th over when, having come on in place of Farhan, Kiran trapped David Simpson in front of the stumps and he struck again in his third over when he bowled Fedenczuk to make the home side 35 for 6 after 12.4 overs. Opener A. Amin together with A. Bij put on 22 for the 6th wicket but the latter returned to the pavilion enclosure after becoming the first of two victims for Russell. This was in his second over and in his next he sent back Calum Sibley. Both batsmen had had their stumps spectacularly rearranged by a delivery from Russell. Nab took his third catch of the afternoon when Shah edged Vipin into his gloves. Farhan retuned to the attack to end Amin's lengthy innings thanks to a good catch by Eoghan at short mid wicket and also claimed the final wicket when George took a catch at cover. Carlton 3rds 86 all out in 32.4 overs.
Dean and Dougie opened our innings and saw off the pacey home opening bowlers but Dean fell to a tricky catch on the run at square leg off the bowling of the home skipper. We were on 37 after 11.2 overs. Nab came in at number 3 and after some prliminary examination of the bowling launched Sibley for 6. This led directly to Bij being brought on to bowl from the pavilion end. Nab took a single off the slow left arm bowler's first ball which was followed by a three to Dougie and with Nab back on strike four and six came from the last two balls of the over. A four came from the third ball of Bij's second over and Nab finished off the match by hitting him for six off the first ball of his third over and after a dot ball a further four and a six into Grange Loan took us to victoty in 20.4 overs. There can be no doubt that Nab took a liking to the bowling of the home slow left armer to hasten us to victory but Dougie also deserves plaudits for patient batting and keen running in support.
