Match report The first league games since 2019 and the first Edinburgh South 3rd XI league games since 2017, on a surprisingly sunny Saturday. There were nine Edinburgh South league debuts in this lineup, only Graham and Fahad having played before.

Jas was captain and his first action was to lose the toss, which meant we would be batting. Phil, Mohan and Graham got us off to a steady start but things stagnated slightly in the middle overs which led to a bit of frustration and a tumble of wickets until Fahad, Sriram and Oliver managed to hit some runs late on which left us on 122 all out.

A wicket in the second over with Fahad bowling a half tracker which the batsman looped to James at square leg got us off to a good start but the Gala number 3 held the innings together as wickets fell fairly consistently at the other end. All the bowlers bowled very well. Sriram, Oliver and Jas keeping it tight early on, Mohan and Anura picking up wickets with their spin bowling and James bowling a very economical 3 overs late on. Unfortunately it wasn't quite enough as Gala got over the line with two wickets in hand. A game that could have gone either way and a decent start to the season for the 3s.
