Kirk Brae CC v Edinburgh South Cricket Club 1st XI on Wed 13 Jul 2022 at 18:00
Edinburgh South Cricket Club Won by 6 wickets

Match report Having lost the toss and been asked to field South could not have had a better start. Farhan comprehensively bowled the Kirk Brae opening bat with the first ball of the match and followed this with the wickets of both numbers two and three in his third over. Both of these came about through fine catches at point by Kiran.
Two more testing high catches were held by Naga, at long on and Siva, at long off to dismiss the Badgers numbers five and four respectively in Naveen's first over which was the ninth of the innings. (KB 48 for 5 after overs.)
At the end of the 12th over Kiran took over from Nab behind the stumps but no more catches came his way but it did mean the Nab, our captain for the night, came on to bowl the last four overs from the Sardesai Pavilion end.
Mir claimed the sixth wicket to fall by bowling the opposing number 7 in the 14th over and KB's seventh wicket fell when Nab took a good catch at deep extra cover in 18th over off the bowling of Naveen who had returned to our attack to bowl the final two overs from the Duddingston Golf Course end. Nab gained an lbw decision in the middle ofv the 19th over and Charanjit took a catch at point off Naveen off the first ball of the final over which unusually for a T20 match was a wicket maiden..
Charanjit, who hit the only 6 of the final, and Siva got our innings off to a brisk start before the former was bowled by the first ball of the seventh over. (38 for 1) Siva and Nab added 24 for the second wicket but with the score on 62 Nab was bowled by A. Hussain. Naveen came in and struck a glorious four off his firts ball but his third ball from Hussain "got big" on him unexpectedly and he could only fend it off into the bowler's hands.(66 for 3 from 10.5) Siva continued to bat positively with support from Naga although there was an element of anxiety among the South supporters around the boundary relating to some of their running between the wickets. Naga was caught with our score on 91 but celebrations soon followed when the second ball of the 17th over went for four byes - perhaps a slight anti-climaxin that it was not one of out batters who had made a winning hit. Siva's innings had played a big part in seeing South home and in the process winning the Public Parks Trophy for the first time.
When handing over the Cup, Parks Association President, Jim Brims, did recall that in 1981 Mitre C.C. , from which Edinburgh South had emerged, had won what is possibly the oldest competition in Scottish Cricket. Jim also handed over the Player of the Match trophy to Naveen Kumar for his 4 wicket haul.
