Match report This match at Edinburgh Academy's Newfield was South's meeting with Morton in the Final of the Edinburgh Public Parks Trophy but there was no cup sucess to celebrate as South went down by 12 runs although battling hard.
Batting first Morton started on the front foot when their opening bat went down the pitch to hit the first ball of the match for 6. They set a blistering early pace to reach 59 for 2 at the end of the sixth over. Tidy overs by Bilal and Mir slowed Morton's progress and their 10th wicket, a run out going for a second run, fell to the last ball of the 20th over.
With the bat, Kam, Asad, Bilal, Safi and Manik all did their bit to take us close but Morton's left arm spinner( Player of the Match, K. Krishna) squeezed us in the middle overs so that 74 from the last 10 overs (63 for 4 from the first 10) became 30 from the last three. Safi and Manik struck out bravely but it was too big an ask.
