Match report A sunny evening saw the 3s playing their first game, against Boroughmuir 2s, in an a new cup competition, Norman BergerCup, for teams in division 5 and below. We lost the toss and were put in to bat. Kasun and Divij opened the batting and made a solid start, making 42 off the first 6 overs, with some very hard clean hitting by Kasun, before a good out swinging ball saw Divij caught behind. Matty was in next and continued the hard hitting as they added 60 off the next 6 overs before Kasun retired in the 13th over, 53no. Wickets fell regularly after that, Rod (1), Ansh (6), Jas (6), Ankur (5). Matty was out next, 44, being caught by the fielder at long on, with a fantastic diving catch at the second attempt. We finished on 152-8, which looked a very competitive score.

Boroughmuir started strongly, and right on the required rate, but lost wickets at regular intervals with Prab (4-0-27-2) and Ankur (2-0-18-1) making the breakthroughs, with Matty and Ansh taking two good catches out in the deep. At 10 overs they were pretty much on track at 73-3 when we were 74-3. But some tight bowling from Jas (2.5-0-16-2), Jeremy (3-0-21-0), Kasun (2-0-9-3) and Dharmesh (3-0-18-2), saw us bowl them out for 121 in the 18th over, giving us the win by 31 runs. It was a more comfortable win than expected in the end, given where they were after 10 0vers.

Overall, it was a good performance, and we are through to the next round, where we face Woodcutters. The date is still TBD.
