New membership payment structure for season 2016 (April onwards)

02 Feb 2016

Edinburgh South CC is a member organisation and as such, we pay to be members and play cricket. Membership makes us eligible to play for an XI, have free use of training facilities during the season and be part of something. Although season 2015 was a successful one for collecting match fees, there has been a significant increase in players playing a large number of games (six or more) but not joining the club by paying a membership fee. As a result, season 2015 saw a large loss for the club which has had to be covered by monies held and external funding. Membership and match fees cover the vital costs of a cricket club – league fees, cost of balls and pitch hire being just some of those.

To simplify the cost structure of Edinburgh South CC, your committee proposed and the AGM accepted

  • The introduction of one off cost per season, payable in full or part payment (via standing order) which will cover ALL membership cost, training during the season, match fees AND winter net cost for nets in 2017
  • Non-members can still play in matches, however the cost per match will be £10 and non-members can only pay-as-you-play five times. After this allocation is used, the player will be expected to join the club using either payment method before playing another game
    • Please note, the players first game of the season will be used to calculate any pro-rata membership fee and this may be considered on a case by case basis
  • Creation of a “Friends of Edinburgh South CC” membership which will entitle previous full playing members to continue to be part of the club. Members will be able to play up to 5 games as a Friend and participate in normal club activities (events, AGM, EGM(s) etc)
  • Full member cost = £220, concession/student = £160, Friend of ESCC = £50
  • Junior cricketers who are member of the Edinburgh South Cricket Stars who play for a senior XI will continue to pay a nominal £3 per game and NOT have to pay the annual subscription
  • Just some of the benefits of this change are:
    • A one off payment with no need to remember to pay match fees/find change
    • An ability to spread the cost and pay direct from your account (please note – you are spreading the cost over 12 months. Should a member be leaving at the end of the season, the cost is to be spread out until then)
    • Reduced admin for the Treasurer/committee to focus on procuring external funding
    • Much reduced time spent during matches chasing match fees so we can concentrate on improving on the pitch

For example

A player, playing 15 games a season and going to 10 winter nets would currently pay

£100 (member) + 15 x £7 + 10 x £3 = £235 which results in a cost saving AND no hassle of weekly payment
