Edinburgh South CC join up with Stewarts Melville CC to enter joint team in Scottish Premier League for Women's Cricket

Edinburgh South CC and SMRH CC have agreed to join up to enter a team in this year's Scottish Women's Premier League. Both sides have a number of talented players playing representative cricket at various levels, but not enough individually to field a team each at this stage. This is an important step in both club's development as it will give opportunities for those that are ready to do so to compete at Premier League level from within our ranks. It will give both clubs a much better chance of being able to field individual premier league standard teams within a couple of years, by combining our resources until we have enough players to field two separate squads at that level. Given the players we have available to both clubs, we believe we'll be extremely competitive at that level.

This also means that we can now guarantee Scottish Premier League cricket in 2018 to all those taking part in the Edinburgh South CC performance programme. We've had a number of strong applications to the programme already, and our hope is that this guarantee a year earlier than planned will encourage one or two more to take the step to apply to this unique opportunity to develop their game.

The deadline for applications for the performance programme is Friday 16th March. Full details available at the attached link:
