New signing spearheads 2026 ambitions

We’re delighted to welcome Chamod Sandaru to the club for the 2026 season.

The Sri Lankan cricketer brings experience from more than 50 First Class and List A matches, offering all-round quality as a right-hand batter and an aggressive off-spinner.

Chamod will strengthen both our playing squad and our training programme as we prepare for our second season competing in the Cricket Scotland Eastern Premier League, the highest level of senior club cricket in Scotland.

He arrives in Scotland off the back of a successful 2025 league campaign with Rastrick CC in Yorkshire, where he amassed 800 runs at an average of 40 and took 35 wickets at 22 at Premier League level.

As a fast-growing, volunteer-run community club, he will play an important role off the field too, helping to nurture emerging talent across our women’s, junior and men’s sections as we continue to develop as one of the most welcoming, diverse and high-performing clubs in the country. He will support head coach Qasim Sheikh, and a growing roster of qualified coaches contributing to the development of the club across three thriving sections.

Speaking about the signing, Club Co-Chairs Paul Reddish and Martin Richardson, said:

“We can’t wait for Chamod to join up with the squad ahead of another exciting season for the club.

“The club has had a stellar few years both on and off the pitch, and we feel we are only just at the beginning of what we can achieve together.

“The fantastic infrastructure, culture, and dedication of our members to making the club such a great asset for our community gives us a robust foundation to achieve our ambitions.

“Investing in a player-coach of Chamod’s ability and character will play a key role in our ambitious growth and development plans for the season ahead.”
