Paul Reddish and Tony Brian nominated for Cricket Scotland board

03 Mar 2015

Edinburgh South Club Chairman has been nominated for a position on the Cricket Scotland board, along with Tony Brian of Watsonians CC who is running for position as Chair.

Tony and Paul have believed for some time now that a change of direction is required in Scottish Cricket, and have written to all clubs in Scotland asking for their support in the election.  Full details of the email, and the attached statement are provided below:

In recent times, we have both spoken to many people who have expressed frustrations at the lack of progress in a number of areas with Scottish Cricket.  We both care passionately about the game in our country, and with developments over the last six months, believe the time has come for a fresh approach and some fresh faces to lead the change Scottish Cricket requires.

As a result, we have been nominated and seconded as candidates for the positions of Chair and Director respectively at the AGM of Cricket Scotland on 25th March.

Attendance at the AGM is usually quite modest and the number of proxy votes relatively small, as from the conversations we have had with a number of clubs demonstrates they’ve not been given a compelling reason to vote.  If, like us, you believe change needs to happen for cricket in Scotland to move forward, we would urge you to come along to the AGM to show your support, or if unable to do so, to vote by proxy in advance, as explained in the notice of the meeting sent out by Cricket Scotland on February 4th.  A form of proxy will be sent out by CS with the papers for the meeting, typically, about 14 days before the date of the AGM but the proxy form can also be requested in advance from CS (general@cricketscotland.com)

We have already spoken to a number of you regarding your thoughts on the state of the game and what’s required.  We hope you’ll agree that the attached statement we have put together and the work we intend to carry out is reflective of the feelings within many of the clubs – and a positive vision for what we think can be done to move cricket forward in Scotland.

We will both endeavour to try and talk to as many people as possible in the run up to the AGM – and more importantly ensure the voice of the clubs is continually heard going forward,.  If you wish to discuss further with us, we can be contacted as follows: -
